Ali's breakthrough came around 1990 that year, when Ali made Ashley Banks a reality in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Alongside the actor Will Smith, the series was a huge success. It was a huge hit which ranked the show 12th on NBC's list of most-watched programming between 1990 and 1992. The show also received two Golden Globe nominations.
